It seems that of late Purdue University and St. Mary of the Woods College take turns having the high point hunter seat team each
season in Region 1. This year it was St. Mary of the Woods turn. Woodsies Hunter Seat Coach Krista Steinmetz (fourth from left) broke her right foot the day before Nationals,
falling off one of her own horses during some pre-show schooling. It is hoped that Steinmetz and the Woodsies (seen here three days after the mishap) have better luck when
IHSA Nationals returns to Lexington for a second consecutive season in May of 2011.
The University of Minnesota at Crookston was one of nine IHSA programs whose hunter seat and western teams both captured Region Titles during the 2009-10 season. Head Coach Nicky
Overgaard (center) poses with a pair of her sophomores on the final day of 2010 IHSA Nationals. Though Kaitlyn Tollefrud (on left) may have been out of the ribbons in individual novice western, Anna Steen (on right) was the
Reserve National Champion in individual beginner western horsemanship in Lexington, Kentucky on May 9th.
