They were down by 21 points to West Virginia after the first show. When the fourth and fifth shows of the season were over they were ahead. Then after seven of eight shows they were 14 behind West Virginia again. But to the surprise of many Seton Hill University outscored the Mountaineers by a 44-20 score at the Alumni-Hosted show held at Stonegate Farm on March 12th. Allison Mello (pictured, who will be a super-senior next season) was the first of five Griffons to win a blue ribbon when she started the day with a first in open fences. When it was over Seton Hill had finished the season with a 290-280 lead over the eleven-time Region Champion Mountainears. Thus the Griffons will take a full hunter seat team to Zone 2 Zones on April 8th. This is also the first Region title for Seton Hill head coach Becki Bloom (not pictured), who has coached at several current Region 5 schools over the years (most notably for the University of Pittsburgh in the previous decade).
